Flight Resume & Tech Update
Earlier this week we announced the addition of Flight Resume; a new feature coming to Infinite Flight that will allow pilots to quit a flight and pick up where they left off later. This new development will be a huge improvement for users who never seem to have the time for an actual long-haul flight, allowing them to split the flight into multiple sessions. For more information on Flight Resume, check out our blog article.
In addition to this new feature we also included some behind the scenes information in the article:
Our developers have been working away behind the scenes on an Android subscription code-base rework that was required by Google for this release (which will help pave the way for some new Android and iOS integrations down the road). While this update is feature complete, there are final testing efforts underway to fix some remaining bugs.
As part of these changes, we've also made more updates to our underlying tech stack which will help improve performance as we continue working on our upcoming graphics and multiplayer improvements. Our next update also fixes a large number of crashes experienced by Android users.
We've upgraded our tech stack for both the Infinite Flight app and all of our servers to use .NET 8. This came with some integration challenges for our server code that slowed our update progress, as we thoroughly tested to ensure there were no perceivable changes or downtime for our users.
.NET 8 includes many performance improvements, which trickle down to Infinite Flight by reducing our frame time; this reduces CPU/GPU usage and users will notice lower battery usage and less heat generated by your devices.
We're looking forward to implementing all of this plus the A380 in the coming months.
