Cloud Development FAQ
Clouds are in the works for Infinite Flight and are undergoing internal testing. Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions:
Q: What Kind of clouds will be released?
A: Our first iteration is a cirrus cloud layer. Cloud cover, thickness, and altitude will vary based on conditions.
Q: Will other types of clouds come later?
A: Yes, that’s the plan. We don’t have a timeframe to share for this yet.
Q: Will my device be able to handle it?
A: If your device can handle Infinite Flight in its current state, it should handle clouds as well. We’re working hard to make sure clouds render in a way that has the least impact on processing as possible.
Q: Will the clouds be based on real weather data like METAR/TAF?
A: Yes. As noted above, cloud cover, density, and altitude will be as accurate as the data we receive from the weather service database. Since V1 will be a cirrus layer only, we will interpret data in a way that gives the closest possible representation using this type of cloud cover.
Q: Will precipitation be included?
A: No, but we would love to add it in the future.
Q: Are clouds available for non-pro users?
A: Yes, clouds will be available to all of our users, whether they have a Pro subscription or not.
Q: When will this update come?
A: As always, we don’t set release dates. This has been a complicated addition since we want to ship realistic clouds to you. That being the case, we don’t have a projected release for this feature. We will keep you updated along the way!
