24.3 Change of Plans
Wednesday morning we posted on X that the release of 24.3 was targeted for Thursday (the week wasn't specified but it was this week). As sometimes happens with app development, our beta team has uncovered a showstopper that can't go into production. We hoped this would be a quick fix, but it requires more time to make right. Keep reading for full context. In light of this, our new target is early next week (September 2 or 3).
So what happened?
We had aimed to ship on Thursday and had received approval from Apple. Everything was geared up for release. This update contains a lot of changes to multiplayer, including brand new servers, with the aim of supporting GSE (Ground Service Equipment) sync, among other upcoming features. GSE sync means you'll see all GSE in use at the airport (even by other users).
Unfortunately, we uncovered an issue (after the app was approved) where the GSE sync was failing on these new servers. Certain patterns of traffic on the multiplayer server would cause issues with GSE where doors would be out of sync, or the vehicle would spawn in the wrong position. Worst of all, it would result in crashes for some players. Additionally, this issue seems to affect replays.
This is not the quality we aim for in a release, so we've decided to spend a few more days investigating and, allowing time to resubmit to the stores, we aim to release early next week. GSE may not be included as this may need significant changes. Of course, our developers tried earnestly to do whatever possible to avoid delaying the update, including server side fixes, but this was not possible with the narrow timeframe we were working with.
Thank you for using Infinite Flight and we hope to see you in the 24.3 skies very soon!
