20.1 Crash Updates

Since the launch of Infinite Flight 20.1 and the subsequent hotfix 1, a small segment of users continues to experience the app crashing. There are a few factors contributing to this detailed here, and summarized as follows:
- A more detailed than ever aircraft being flown. The B772 uses more memory (RAM) than previous aircraft due to its complexity and detail.
- New map detail is a huge contributor to memory usage.
- More users than ever before on our live servers.
- Many new features, which led to more bugs not caught in beta testing.
Affected users seem to primarily be ones with lower-end devices or devices that are running out of memory. On iOS, our crash reporter gives us no indication of the problem if a user runs out of memory. It simply terminates the application and that's that. We don't know what the user did in the app just prior to that happening. Our developers seem to have narrowed this down somewhat. We will be creating an official device compatibility guide and will put measures in place to better mitigate new standards as we add features.
What can I do?
As a workaround until we can push a second hotfix with more crash fixes, users experiencing crashes should try the following:
- Start on all low graphics settings and work your way up
- Turn features like airspaces off on the map for now before starting a flight
- Complete a flight in solo with your test settings before moving to our multiplayer servers
- Start with a low aircraft count in multiplayer when you're confident you can complete a solo flight, then work your way up
We understand this is a frustrating time for some, especially with no warning that your device might suddenly not handle 20.1. We're working hard to optimize the app for you. Please note that devices with 1GB of RAM will very likely not work with Infinite Flight in the future. We will be officially recommending at least 2GB of memory to be compatible, and a high-powered device such as a newer iPad Pro to use all graphics settings on High.
To users affected by this, thank you for your patience as we make improvements. Keep an eye on our social media channels and here for more updates.
